Product descriptions.

Mint Velvet, Net-a-Porter & The Outnet, 2016-2021.

My first job as a writer was all about product descriptions, so they’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

When shopping online, the product description needs to cover any unanswered questions that the imagery fails to address. If we take a dress as an example, we might wonder: how does the fabric feel against the skin? Is it stretchy? How will it fit into our own wardrobe? Descriptions take on the role of a style advisor on the shop floor, pointing out any key trends, justifying the price point & quality, and in an nutshell, communicating what makes that piece so special.

Below are a handful of examples of some of the descriptions I’ve been able to cover over the years, first as a writer, then as an editor. If you’re after any specific examples, drop me an email.
